Brayden Bultema is a shining example of what it means to be a dedicated FFA member. As a finalist for the 2025 Michigan FFA Star in Placement Award, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to hard work and a relentless passion for helping give back wherever possible. Brayden’s journey in the FFA is a testament to the transformative power of hands-on experience.
As a six-year FFA member, he has had the opportunity to dive into various aspects of agriculture and trades, but his focus remains on River’s Rental and Equipment in Whitehall, where he has spent time honing his skills and gaining invaluable experience.
At just 8 years old, Brayden began to shadow his uncle at River’s Rental, where he learned the value of even the most mundane tasks. Sweeping floors, emptying trash cans and completing other odd jobs instilled in him a strong work ethic that would become the foundation of his future success. Over time, Brayden’s responsibilities expanded, and he took on leadership roles, managing crews, performing maintenance and repairs, mowing, installing irrigation systems, landscaping and training others.
Winter mornings often find Brayden up and ready before school begins, plowing snow for eight commercial accounts and driveways. He not only handles the physically demanding work but also takes care of maintaining the plow and truck, ensuring that the equipment is in top condition. This dedication to hard work is evident in his post-school routine, as he still finds time to drive to his accounts and complete his duties with precision.
River’s Rental and Equipment also offers equipment rentals, where safety is paramount. Brayden’s responsibilities include loading and unloading heavy equipment, delivering and picking up rentals and providing support to customers. His expertise in handling and operating machinery helps provide additional value to the business’s customers.
Following his graduation from Montague High School, Brayden plans to take his passions to the next level by working full-time at River’s Rental and Equipment. Furthermore, he aims to establish his own landscaping business, where he can apply the skills and knowledge he has acquired to create beautiful outdoor spaces.
Just days away from awarding the Michigan FFA Star in Placement Award, it’s time to celebrate the exceptional achievements of the three finalists: Grant Guza from the Ubly FFA Chapter, Madelyn Ruster from the Coopersville FFA Chapter and Brayden Bultema of the Montague FFA Chapter. Each finalist represents the very best of hard work, determination and excellence within the Michigan FFA.
