Amongst the sprawling fields of Huron County, there’s a rising star whose passion for agriculture burns as fervently as the heat of a summer day. Meet Jordan Schave, a dedicated member of the North Huron FFA Chapter, whose agricultural experience runs the gamut from crops to livestock.

“Through FFA I have had the opportunity to meet so many new people and have cool experiences. It has helped me grow as a leader and help the community,” Jordan reflects, looking back on his illustrious FFA career.

Jordan’s journey is one of diversity and hands-on experience, with a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) that spans across several local farms in the area. His current placement at Jahn Farms and East Huron Enterprises in Port Hope offers him a myriad of opportunities to learn and grow.

Jahn Farms, spanning an impressive 2,700 acres, is a cash crop operation, cultivating corn, wheat, soybeans and sugar beets. Additionally, they operate East Huron Enterprises, a 20,000 head farrow to finish swine operation. Here, Jordan immerses himself in the world of livestock management, with a focus on farrowing and breeding responsibilities.

From breeding sows to managing the farm’s nursery and tending to sick animals, Jordan’s days are filled with an array of tasks. But his talents extend beyond livestock care; he’s also adept at operating the grain cart, driving semis, running the ripper and even welding to repair hog pens.

During harvest season, Jordan’s focus shifts to the fields, where he plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the farm’s 2,700 acres of crops. As he operates the grain cart with precision and efficiency, he knows the importance of keeping the combine moving and the trucks loaded safely.

With each passing day, Jordan’s passion for agriculture grows stronger, fueled by his desire to expand his knowledge and expertise. His sights are set on attending the Agricultural Industries program at Michigan State University, where he’ll continue his journey towards becoming a leader in the agricultural community.

His FFA Advisor Miss Haley Talaski can attest, “I have known Jordan for a few years now and from the very beginning, I have seen his determination and passion for this organization which are qualities that all leaders should possess. We are so proud of him and what he will accomplish.”

Congratulations, Jordan Schave, Star Finalist in Placement. Your dedication, hard work and unwavering commitment to the agricultural industry are an inspiration to us all. Here’s to investing in the future by supporting the Michigan FFA Foundation and empowering students like Jordan to reach their full potential.
