Rayne Guza is a powerhouse of ambition, innovation and dedication, making her a finalist for the 2025 Michigan FFA Star in Agribusiness Award. At just 18 years old, Rayne has not only excelled in her studies, but has also transformed her lifelong passion for horses into a successful entrepreneurial venture: Rayne’s Riding Lessons. Through this journey, she embodies the hardworking spirit of FFA members and proves that with determination and knowledge, young leaders can carve their own paths.
Her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program revolves around her love for horses and teaching others about riding. It was this passion that pushed her to establish her own business, an endeavor that intertwines education, agriculture and entrepreneurship. Rayne aims not only to teach riding, but also to cultivate an appreciation for all aspects of the equine industry in her students.
What began as a small idea quickly grew into a comprehensive business aimed at individuals of all skill levels. Rayne’s Riding Lessons offers affordable sessions that cover everything from beginner riding to trail riding and even showmanship. Her approach to teaching focuses on building confidence and skill, ensuring that every rider has the opportunity to discover and enjoy the world of horses. This vision has allowed her to expand beyond traditional lessons, creating a welcoming space for students to explore various riding opportunities.
The business Rayne has developed through her experiences is remarkable. She understands that a successful business hinges on effective advertising and fostering trust with both riders and their parents. One of her most impactful strategies was reaching out to local elementary schools, a move that introduced her services to children eager to learn about horses. Additionally, she utilizes social media platforms like Facebook to spread the word about her lessons, showcasing her facility and horses through engaging content.
Rayne’s commitment to community outreach doesn’t stop there! She hosts an open house each spring, giving potential customers the chance to visit the barn, meet her horses and learn more about what Rayne’s Riding Lessons has to offer. This blend of personal connection and business strategy has contributed significantly to her reputation, helping her establish a trusted name in the community.
After high school, Rayne plans to continue her educational journey at Saginaw Valley State University, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a major in Mathematics. Even as she embarks on this new chapter, she intends to keep her business running during the summer months, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her passions.
